Take a Detour to Muskoka for the Holidays

Here’s our pick list of activities to enjoy when you Venture Off The Beaten Path to Muskoka.

Dec 21-23: The JW Marriott celebrates its 10th Anniversary since opening its first location in Canada on sparkling Lake Rosseau. Don your cocktail apparel at the gala on Dec 22nd with a luxurious dinner of seafood, risotto, pasta, Certified Angus Beef steaks, delectable desserts and a toast to the future! Get there a little early to take a seat in the carved ice Muskoka chair and try out the Legendary Oddity Gin luge! In addition to this formal event, they’re running an amazing lineup of activities to thank staff, community and guests, all weekend.

Dec 22-23: Santa’s back in town for Santafest at Santa’s Village. They’ve got horse drawn wagon rides, gingerbread cookie decorating, ornament making, reindeer games, marshmallow roasting, and who could forget – a visit with the big guy, himself. Get your tickets today!

As long as there’s ice and snow: Venture off the Beaten Path by ski, skate, snowshoe, horse or foot. Head towards Huntsville to explore Arrowhead Park or the beautiful grounds around Deerhurst Resort.

Always: People to see, places to go, but how do you discover great bars and restaurants along the way? Use our Beer Locator. Select “Bracebridge“, “Gravenhurst“, “Huntsville” or wherever you find your self this season and then click “Bar/Restaurant” in the second dropdown. You can expect fresh Muskoka creations at our long list of partners.

Dec 27: Weather permitting, Muskoka Lakes Cranberry Farm and Winery is opening their skating trail for the season. Sip and learn about the wonderful local cranberries that go into Winter Beard Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout.

New Years Eve: Yah, you could enjoy watching the ball drop from the comfort of your couch, full-bodied Shinnicked Stout in hand. We wouldn’t blame you, but that option is available year-round! Head to Hidden Valley for family-friendly fireworks at 6:00p.m, and live music 5:00-8:00. Free cookies and hot chocolate starting at 5:00. Bar closes at 8:00 p.m.

Wherever you go, we hope you’ll make a pit stop at the brewery for pints, samples, tours and shopping on 1964 Muskoka Beach Rd in Bracebridge.

Happy holidays and stay safe out there!
